Dol Arrah’s Passage

Athena Statue

Dol Arrah’s Passage (AKA: The Southern Oracle first gate)

I want there to be something similar to the gates of the Southern Oracle of the Neverending Story. Instead of a sphinx, this pair will have a body of a dragon and a head of Dol Arrah (patron goddess of courage, bravery, and honor) OR maybe it’ll just look like the goddess all together (in the Athena pose where she is holding her spear/halberd and shield.).

This oracle pair will behave more like the movie: they’ll zap those they deem false, untrue, and cowardice, and emanate a bright golden glow.

Gali

Gali

I borrowed the Gali from a very fun Japanese RPG series known as Monster Rancher (or Monster Farm in Japan). There was a breed of monsters I liked known as Gali. It was a floating pair of a sun shield for a face and a cloak as its mantle. All of its attacks were a manifestation of a leg or arm of some sort. I thought it was a kewl monster until they withdrew it from the series, only returning it intermittently. When looking through some pictures of “Carnevale di Venezia”, the beautiful costumes and the Venetian masks reminded me of the monster.

Topsy Turvy

Topsy Turvy

The celebration of the Traveler is basically the same Topsy Turvy (AKA: “Feast of Fools”) in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I love the film and esp. loved the songs. When Disney made it a shortly-lived live action stage version at Disneyland, they really made the “Topsy Turvy” scene incredibly festive and felt engaging. And so I wanted to include that into my campaign setting.
